5 Months

Well, my little man Johnny is sure growing up fast now. He’s 5 months and 1 week old tomorrow. I love watching him learn new things and grow as a person, and love learning more each day about who he is. How can so much personality fit into such a small bundle? Priceless smiles that show true happiness. He’s so outgoing, interested in everybody he sees and loves to watch and interact with people. Chatters away like a little story teller, especially at bath time, our favourite time of day. Always got something important to say with his cute little baby voice, I could sit and listen all day. Daddy is his favourite person in the world, and he gets the biggest smiles. I love watching them play together.25.12.10 247

Exploring his body parts is what he’s into at the moment. Always got his legs up in the air or foot in mouth. And he’s starting to be on the move a bit. Not yet crawling, but somehow wriggles from one side of the room to the other. He’s started having 3 meals a day now too and loving it. Breastfeeding is phased out and bottles are in, which means a lot more effort in preparing to go out anywhere. But we will get the hang of it. We got him a sipper cup too which he so far is doing well with holding by himself. He gives himself bottles also with the handles attached. So much independence already, but it’s good that my hands aren’t as tied up. Found a little tooth starting to cut through too, which is a bit surprising since he hasn’t showed much pain. Loves chewing on the frozen icy bite teether though. We had a great Christmas, our first one with Johnny. Was wonderful to see his excitement with all the new toys, even if he doesn’t know what it’s all about.

New start for SUMMER

The past few weeks have been super busy. Moved to a different town and we all know how much of a big job that is. Finally got a spare moment to gather my thoughts and tell you how Johnny is progressing.

He was AMAZING during the packing, cleaning, moving, unpacking. We got through the days with a minimum of fuss. He didn’t seem to mind that there was no entertainment and that we were busy. He must have known it was something very important that needed to be done. He is loving the new house and feeling right at home. It is highset, and he loves to sit out on the front verandah with us and watch the birds and cars and trees. We also get a fantastic breeze up there which is great for now because its DSC07298extremely hot, and it faces east so we beat the afternoon sun. All wonderful things when you don’t have air-conditioning. We are going to get a little kiddie pool to stick out the front garden outdoor area, its nice and private and will be surrounded by palm trees and all my pot plants. He enjoys the water a lot. Have had to take cool showers together every day around midday for the last couple of weeks.

Johnny had his first dip at the lagoon last weekend, and he was so relaxed he was falling asleep. He finally only just fits in to the little swimmers nappies. We are heading to the pool again today.

Holidays

Johnny had his first holiday at the beginning of this month. We took two weeks to visit family. He has DSC07106travelled by plane, bus and train, and was so well behaved for the journey and slept most of the way. I was a bit worried about it all but it ended up being easy. I managed carrying all our bags plus John in the sling. He absolutely loved meeting everyone, and was so happy the whole time.

He turned 3 months the day we left, and with that I now have such a different little boy. His sleeping pattern has changed once again. Now likes to stay up a little longer, until about 8pm, but still sleeps a full 12 hours at night without waking up. Also has been having a long, 3-4hour nap sometime during the day which he wasn’t doing before. He is so bubbly and chirpy, loves a chat and is way more interested in his surroundings. He’s trying very hard to manipulate his body to do things but not quite getting it yet. He laughs so much now, so I’ve been having fun with trying different things to make him laugh.

We went to the beach for the first time. John enjoyed lying down looking at the clouds and having the breeze blow over him, but wasn’t too impressed when I put his feet in the water. It was too cold for him.

It was sad to say goodbye and leave everyone, and Johnny missed having all the attention. But we were both very pleased to come back home to Daddy. We missed him lots.

Whitsunday Trail Ride

DSC06896

Johnny and Daddy had some bonding time on Saturday, watched the V8 supercars together :D I went out and did something I have never done before, horse riding. I loved it so much! It was a beautiful, in fact, perfect day. Something I would definitely do again. Was good to have some ‘me’ time, but I missed my boys so much.

Here are some of my favourite shots from the day.
