Whitsunday Trail Ride

DSC06896

Johnny and Daddy had some bonding time on Saturday, watched the V8 supercars together :D I went out and did something I have never done before, horse riding. I loved it so much! It was a beautiful, in fact, perfect day. Something I would definitely do again. Was good to have some ‘me’ time, but I missed my boys so much.

Here are some of my favourite shots from the day.

Tv is a good babysitter?

This week since having his needles, he has been the most cuddly little fellow. The day after was so sad, he was not himself at all. All he wanted was mummy cuddles. His routine went all out of whack but it’s back to normal now. He is over it now, but I feel like he is different maybe wiser. Don’t know exactly what it is. He seems older and tougher. Also while not feeling well he has gotten into the habit of watching television. Not sure whether that is a good or bad thing yet but it makes him so happy and he can’t get enough. I put it on the kids channel for him. I thought it would be a long time yet before I had to watch children’s shows. He even has his naps in front of it sometimes. Usually he wont sleep of a day time so that's good I guess. Here’s a few pictures of him glued to the telly.

DSC06786 DSC06686 DSC06719 DSC06720 DSC06776 As you might be able to tell, he just loves his teddy!

5 things from this week:

1. Grabbing things and putting them in his mouth, including dummy, teethers, my hair, mine and daddy’s fingers, blankets, his favourite is his own hand.

2. Talking and laughing- things actually sound like real words now but i know they are just random babble. He will hold a short conversation and thinks I am hilarious no matter what I say. His favourite thing that I say to him is “ What does the cow go Johnny? Moooo” an then he makes sounds trying to say moo.

3. He has worked out how to hold his hands together and play with them. He does it all the time now. And his feet too but he can only do that if I have him sitting up with me holding him.

4. We put the car seat forward facing this week. He loves being able to see out the windscreen at where we are going. We have a ute, he’s in the front passenger seat. He sits up well in it and doesn’t flop or slump.

5. New modern cloth nappies arrived, they look and feel so good. He smiles every time I put a new one on him, and laughs when I click the press studs shut. They work really well, don’t leak overnight with his 12 hour sleep when I put 2 boosters inside. We are all happy with them.

Brave Little Man

DSC06701Little man had his 2 month needles this morning. He was all smiles during weigh and measure time and showing off to the nurses and doctor. He’s now 5.8kg and 61cm tall, in the middle of the growth charts for all measurements. Poor thing did not see what was coming. The biggest saddest screams I have ever heard from him. Lucky Mama could make it all better with some booby and cuddles. Gave him some panadol and his new toy for being a brave boy. He snuggled and fell straight asleep for the walk home. He’s fine now, acting no different to usual. Still my happy chappy :D

Playtime

Johnny loves wriggling around and playing with his toys. He can’t crawl but he can pull himself along. He loves tummy time and could hold his head up from one week old. He has rolled from tummy to back about 6 times.

We Got Our Infant Imprints !!!

Well Chris had to work on Saturday, so I spent yet another lazy day at home with the boy. He has been a little upset and screaming for a couple of hours on Friday and Saturday. Nothing I can’t handle though and he’s usually pretty good so a couple of hours here and there doesn’t bother me too much. I have been trying not to comfort feed him unless its absolutely necessary, and I know he’s not hungry. It’s usually a bit of wind, so just have to wait for it to pass. This boy is sure teaching me some patience and tolerance. I don’t get as upset now with him crying, unless I am really exhausted myself.

I had a bit of a romantic evening planned for when Chris got home finally at 8.30pm. Prepared a cheese and nibblies platter, red wine, candles throughout the house and on the outdoor table, dinner bubbling away on the stove. Was great to sit down and relax and have some ‘us’ time and talk about things other than the baby.

Sunday we went for a drive into Airlie, went through the new McDonald’s drive through on it’s opening day. They sure make a good iced coffee. I swear I am addicted to coffee now that I’m a Mum. Can almost justify buying a cappuccino maker. Had a little drive around to look at the water, stopped in at a friends, went to the butcher then back home. Fed John and put him down for a nap at Midday and decided to have a power nap ourselves. We thought he would only be about 30mins, but I woke at 3.30pm and still no John. He must have been really tired, my goodness this boy loves his sleep. We had lamb skewers and chicken de’lites as an afternoon snack then I mowed the lawn and gave all my plants their spring haircut.

Got to use our pram clears to keep the rain off for the first time this morning. I don’t think John is too fond of rain, as he squished his face up when we first walked out the door and a few got on him. It was only spitting so decided to go walking anyway since John was covered. Was a nice walk, can really smell spring in the air now with all the different fragrances of the flowers, and lots of bird about chirping away. John slept pretty much the whole time, even with our off-road pramming, through soggy long grass and puddles and over bumps and gravel. Sorry pram.

Just got a knock on the door and it was the lady from Infant Imprints. So now can show you my lovely keepsake I got for Johnny.

I am so happy with it, it looks so beautiful. Can’t believe how much his hands and feet have grown since I got these done at one month old.

Social Boy

John joined us on an outing last night to a friends place. Stayed asleep in his pram for a little while (he should have been down for the night but naughty mummy disturbed him), but there was too much going on and too many potential cuddles to be had. He is the happiest little boy, gives huge smiles to everyone he meets, and is so comfortable meeting new people. Here are some of his new friends:

On another note, he is getting extremely hungry, he just can’t get enough.

Grabbing onto stuff is his new favourite thing and he’s getting pretty good at putting things in his mouth now too. Teething won’t be far around the corner I would say.

New Life Starts Here

John Russell Bryant- Born 31.07.2010

DSC05472

John is just over 2 months old now. His smiles, chuckles, and baby talk light up my world. Those perfectly clear and glistening eyes, baby soft skin and super shiny hair are to die for. Tiny hands and feet and smoochable chubby cheeks. And everything else that comes along with a new baby. He is growing so, so fast. Every day he is changing and learning new things and it is amazing to be a part of that. So here’s to Johnny!
